FAQ’s –Frequently asked questions about the Caleb Tate Fuller Foundation

What is the background and purpose of The Caleb Tate Fuller Foundation?
The Caleb Tate Fuller Foundation was established to fulfill a small boy, Caleb’s request to not be forgotten made during his heart wrenching battle with bone cancer. The family desires to honor this request and preserve his memory by commemorating his steadfast love of God and family and relentless passion for life and learning by serving the spiritual, social and educational need of other children.

What is the mission of the Caleb Tate Fuller Foundation?

  • The Foundation’s mission is to remember Caleb through service to children in the community. We do this by bringing educational opportunities to children in the community which promote:
  • Christian values and education
  • Financial Literacy
  • Academic excellence
  • Multicultural & Fine Arts Enrichment
  • Health & special needs awareness

What is the Caleb Tate Fuller “Forget Me Knot Team” ?

The “Forget –Me-Knot” Team consists of family and friends who walk in local charitable events that benefit children. This year’s events include the Teddy Bear Walk for Dyslexia starting in downtown Cincinnati, “The Butterfly Walk” benefitting  Cancer Free Kids at Cottell park in Mason, Ohio , the Relay for Life at Shea Stadium in Norwood benefitting the American Cancer Society  and  “Cincinnati Walks” at Coney Island with proceeds going to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Why does the “Forget Me Knot” Team Walk?
Caleb had a passion for life and learning and enjoyed raising money for his school through the yearly walk-a-thon. Even during intense treatment for his cancer, the idea of getting to participate in the walk inspired and motivated him to do his best at treatment and therapy and to look past his own illness to help others. Caleb was the top fund raiser for his school only a few months prior to his passing. He was so inspired to participate in the walk that he left the hospital only two days after lung surgery going straight to the event .So, walking in memory of Caleb for a worthwhile cause to benefit children seems very appropriate.

What are the contributions given to the CTF Foundation used for?

All work done by the Caleb Tate Fuller Foundation is on a volunteer basis. Family members are exempt from receiving any type of financial benefit.   Funds raised at charitable walks in which the Forget-Me-Knot Team participates go directly to the respective charities as outlined above.

Donations made directly to the Caleb Tate Fuller Foundation will be used for community programs for kids that are sponsored by the Caleb Tate Fuller Foundation.

For the 2012-13 year, these include, a Mad Science Event for kids in the community that attend the Back to School Bash at the Norwood Church of the Nazarene located at the corner of Floral Ave. and Smith road in Norwood, Ohio. This carnival type event is free and open to any child who would like to attend.  Children receive back packs and school supplies as prizes for their participation in games. About 450 children attend this event each year.  We are also providing funds for training in the Darkness to Light child sexual abuse prevention program.

Most of the funds donated to the CTF Foundation this year will be used to provide scholarships in the form of tuition assistance for families in financial need with children in grades K-12 who would like their children to attend a local Christian school but need financial help to make this a reality.
